A group of railway workers were arrested after a fight at a private party in Newquay which they gate-crashed.

Police were called to Treloggan Industrial Estate in the early hours of Sunday after the brawl broke out at a converted container being used as offices by a DJ.

Detective Constable Jazz Yewen, of Newquay CID, said: "It seems that a group of eight railway workers blew in, in a big transit van and gate-crashed the party.

"We understand the men had dropped off two girls at the party who they had met earlier in the evening. They then went back into Newquay and decided to return later on."

DC Yewen added: "They then forced their way in. Punches were thrown at the door and inside the party."

After a number of altercations during which several people received cuts and bruises, the men left, but they were arrested after stopping at Chiverton Cross service station, near Truro.

The men, aged between 20 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. One was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro for treatment of minor injuries.

They were taken to Newquay Police Station, questioned and then released on bail until February 11 and 12.

Any witnesses should contact police.
